VIBRATIONS
January 9 through January 30, 2004
Liz Randall's installation Vibrations uses animation to bring objects to life. Randall, a recent graduate of Cornish College of the Arts, pairs video with animated photographs to highlight the contrast between real time and distorted time.
Using midi controllers, a multi-track video is triggered by sound vibrations in the space. The sequence of images and the rate of motion of each frame are affected by these environmental variations. Still photographs extracted from the video give the viewer a chance to see the animated objects in a stationary form. By overlaying parts of the images Randall creates still vibrations.
