The city abounds with subject matter. Evan Blackwell and Marc Lawrence have transformed discarded objects and industrial materials from the streets of Seattle into minimalist compositions that reflect our changing contemporary landscape. Blackwell and Lawrence, working as a team, have merged autonomous worlds of feeling and successfully bridged their independent forms of expression. This collaboration has produced constructs of enhanced potency.

Teeming with rich colors, the decomposing forms intertwine with the places
where we live, visual evidence of the complex forces and interrelationships
of humanity, nature, and industry. The collection of materials is organized
in a way to explore space, redefine function, and reveal new stories.
Fragmentary views of reality regroup themselves into a fresh unity. The
power of the forms‹their mass and scale‹creates a new landscape and
meditation on our urban environment.
