Static Factory Returns to Chop Suey

On Wednesday, July 30, 2003, Static Factory Media hosted our first showcase at Chop Suey. Obelus, The Beehive, and Malcolm Groovesmith were all featured for a night of fused styles, mixed media, and truly intelligent dance music.

Now, nearly a year later, Static Factory Media joins forces with Fourthcity to bring you one of the most eclectic lineups of local musicians Seattle has ever seen. On Wednesday, June 2nd, Static Factory Media and DJ BR8 present DJ BR8, Scape, DJ Variform, Zapan and Obelus. The shows a mere $5.00, starts early, and goes late! Obelus is Seattle-based live electronica duo Adam Pessl and Jason Goessl. Combining electronic & acoustic drums, sampled sounds, effects, guitar, bass, as well as vintage and circuit bent synths; Obelus does not use pre-recorded sequences or loops. All loops and sequences are created fresh each performance using realtime looping devices. The sampled tones that Jason & Adam use originates from many different mediums, manipulated into music via midi drums & midi guitar. Combining driving breakbeats pushed through distortion and layered ambient melodies, Obelus' unique sound makes for a musical experience that plays equally well through headphones or on the dance floor.
